The Heath Informatics Unit and Education department have produced a package of tutorial exercises aimed at Senior House Officers (SHOs) in their foundation years of training in hospitals. Laying the Foundations for Good Medical Practice (LTF) contains 12 exercises that involve participants in completing tasks and discussions with their peers and tutors. Most of the exercises in LTF take about an hour to complete. To increase flexibility for local use, it was felt that an option would be to deliver the tutorials by a mixture of on-line learning and in-hospital discussions. It is intended to deliver new tutorials in this way, provided that this is acceptable to users.
This section of the HIU website provides links to e-learning resources that have been developed and reports on the results of their evaluation.
Evaluation is comprised of two stages:
- Closed evaluation (through current users of LTF)
- Open evaluation (through publication on this website)

There are numerous online e-learning websites for doctors. Some require registration. Most are free to use. The list below provides links to some that we have found. We have not reviewed the sites and are not responsible for their content.
